Sport and Fitness are major components of the school curriculum at Wattle Grove Public School.
Sport is offered on both a competitive and non-competitive basis. Children in the younger grades (K-2) or those who simply enjoy participating in sport on a recreational level (Year 3 - Year 6) are engaged in a skill development based program designed to enhance gross and motor skills. The developed skills are then applied to game situations to improve individual confidence and personal self-esteem in a friendly, co-operative, non-competitive atmosphere.
Competitive sport is offered in a variety of areas to our students. These sports include Cricket, Softball, T-Ball, OzTag, Newcombeball, Rugby League, Boys' Soccer, AFL, Girls' Soccer and Netball. The school also participates in Primary Schools Sport Association (PSSA) knockout competitions such as girls and boys Touch Football. Coaching clinics are arranged in a variety of sports such as cricket, basketball, Australian Rules football and Oztag. We also compete in all sporting carnivals conducted by the NSW PSSA such as swimming, cross-country and athletics.
Wattle Grove Public School has competed favourably with the neighbouring schools in the area, winning competitions in T-ball, Netball, Boys & Girls Soccer, Cricket, Rugby League, Oztag and Softball. The school performs well at Zone competitions as well.
Enrolling at Wattle Grove Public School offers the tranquility of a caring school environment with the added attraction of abundant opportunities in a wide range selection of sporting pursuits.
Every Friday, students who are not in a PSSA team have the opportunity to learn and participate a variety of sports and activities.
