What students learn

Students engage with a broad and diverse NSW curriculum that covers six key learning areas. Through this curriculum, they develop essential lifelong skills, nurture their creativity, and are well-prepared for life beyond school.

Teaching and learning at Wattle Grove Public School

At Wattle Grove Public School, we are committed to making learning clear, engaging, and purposeful for every student. Our teaching practices are grounded in the principles of What Works Best, ensuring that instruction is explicit, effective, and responsive to students’ needs. This approach helps learners understand what they are learning, why it matters, and how to apply their knowledge with confidence.

We place a strong emphasis on building solid foundations in literacy and numeracy. We believe that giving every child the best possible start begins with high-quality instruction in these essential areas, setting them up for success across all stages of learning.

We value the important role parents and carers play as a child’s first teacher and are committed to working in partnership with families to support student success. Together, we foster a love of learning that begins in the early years and continues throughout a child’s school life.

Our learning environments are student-centred and responsive, adapting to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Our dedicated teachers collaborate regularly, engage in high-impact professional learning, and continually reflect on their practice to ensure every student is supported to succeed. By combining high expectations with effective feedback and targeted support, we create the conditions for every student to thrive.
